Emory University Department of Biology 2014 Rhodes Lectureship

The Biology Department has invited Eugenia Maria del Pino on April 23 and 24, 2014, to speak to students and faculty about her experiences as a scientist, educator, and conservationist.  There are two events, listed below and in the attached flyer, including the Biology Undergraduate Research Symposium that provides an opportunity for more than 90 biology majors to present posters of their research and to be recognized for their and their mentors’ hard work.

Dr. del Pino received her Ph.D. from Emory in 1972.  For her work on marsupial frogs at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, she has been recognized as a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences, the 2000 L’Oréal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science, and the 2003 Sheth Distinguished International Alumni Award from Emory University.

Because of the newly established study abroad/clinical experience opportunities with her institution in Ecuador, this visit has garnered a tremendous amount of interest and support for special presentations to the community and undergraduates.
